Hi all friends,
in EV i see this warning(not error) started some weeks before, consider my Broadcom NetLink (TM) Fast Ethernet adapter. i use auto. connection wireless Broadcom adapter as my main internet connection via my router.[ If i disable Ethernet adapter via device manager i do not get this event]
- why am i getting this event after each reboot when i do not use Ethernet at all?
-why the system looks for Ethernet connection when no Ethernet plug connected and wireless works fine?
-is there a way to "tell" the system not to look for Ethernet connection?
Thanks!

Re: Network warnning

The source of the problem is a broadcom driver.
Go to device manager and look for any yellow warning signs near drivers
If none see if you can update the driver.

If the only problem is the warning in the EV, forget about it. Everyone will have warnings and information in EV. Consistent errors, only, need to be investigated. That being said, the above may be able to solve the problem

Re: Network warnning

Hi Richard and lovely Saturday :)
i already checked device manager (no yellow warning signs near drivers) and my drivers are up to date.
the warning in the EV appears upon each reboot.
(so as you suggested i'll forget about it now)

Re: Network warnning

Hi prukeyhi,

I received your PM. I just checked my own EV and noticed I have essentially the same warning on every startup (and even every wakeup). When I went into details, XML view, it looked like this (seem familiar?):

I believe it is because the adapter is enabled but is not connected and therefore is generating a warning that there is no connection (which is also the case for me). But because it is installed and enabled, it is trying to do its job and when it can't, it generates the warning. That is also why when you disable the adapter, the problem goes away (because it is no longer trying to establish a connection as it is disabled). There's nothing wrong with the warning and there's no reason to disable the adapter just to make it go away (as you may want your adapter at some point and this warning is absolutely no problem whatsoever). I do not believe updating the drivers would help in this situation even if there were any available as the warning is because the adapter is working - not because it isn't working - and I'd instead be concerned if the warning failed to appear (as, ironically enough, the lack of the warning in this case might indicate a problem since the warning is just normal behavior). Still, it is always a good idea to check and make sure you are using the most updated drivers that are appropriate for your system, your device, and your operating system - and you have done that so as Richard suggested, so that's excellent.

In short, I see no issue here (there is no problem with this particular warning) and think it can and should be totally ignored as Richard suggested and you seem to have decided anyway. Many warnings and most info items in EV are equally meaningless or not to be concerned about. Focus on anything that says Critical, Important, or Error - and even then, be mostly concerned with those that repeat (as single events do occur and are usually no cause for alarm - it's when they happen often or consistently or relate to a problem you're actually having that you may want to dig a bit deeper into it).

Take care, my friend.

Re: Network warnning

Thank you Lorien for your full, detailed and clear/logic explanation!

indeed XML looks almost the same.
Too bad that microsoft name it as warning instead of information

Re: Network warnning

Thank you, Amir - always happy to assist. You're quite welcome and I'm glad that there actually was no problem here at all - just normal event behavior (even if EV made that more difficult to see than one might hope).

Good luck and best wishes!
