"Show me all the files and folders I am sharing" problem

I know very little about sharing in Vista though I've done a bit of reading.

My problem is, when I click on the link "Show me all the files and folders I am sharing" in the Network And Sharing Center, I get a couple of (expected) folders and a gazillion files.

Now I think it's the case that only folders can be shared; that files have no sharing attribute. Files are only shared if they are within shared folders.

My question is, why does the above link give me such a huge list of "shared" files? It's not as if any of them are within the shared folders.

Thanks for suggesting the links. Looked at them but the info is no help for the problem described.

To be a little more explicit. I have two laptops connected via wireless LAN. I have explicitly shared one folder on one laptop and it comes up on the other laptop. All well and good. No other shared folders/files are visible. Fine.

But ... why when I click the link to "Show me all the files and folders I am sharing" does the list include *thousands* of files?

Having done a little research, unfortunately I personally did not come up with anything, at the moment to help you.

Not giving up will look into it further, but for me, I now have to be away from the computer for a few hours, sorry.
