Connecting PC to TV Failure

Hi Everybody,

I have a Dell Vista PC and am trying to connect it to an LCD Samsung TV. Using a VGA Cable.

Thing is I cannot seem to configure the two to communicate.

I have tried to change the resolution in Display Settings and the Nvidia control panel, but no secondary display is recognized.

I am very close to tears so could someone please help me out - thanks.

Well I have connected the Dell Studio 540 PC running Vista Home Premium to a Samsung LCD TV via a VGA cable.

I have then gone to display properties and tried to adjust the monitor 2 resolution so as to have the TV communicate with it and display the PC.

I have unchecked the monitor 1 as main monitor and checked monitor 2 as main monitor.
I have then gone through every resolution and the TV still doesn't recognize anything.

On the drop down bar of the monitors in display properties it reads:
Monitor 1 says Dell Monitor 'on NVIDIA'
Monitor 2 says (Default Monitor) on NVIDIA

The graphics card I have is:
NVIDIA Geforce 9800 GT
DAC Type: Integrated RANDAC
Approx Total Memory: 1902 MB

I have a similar problem. I've been thinking of connecting my Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO Li1818 laptop to my LG 32LH4000 LCD TV. The main reason being I download movies and burn them to a DVD and watch them on TV. This has worked great for 9 months now when I do it the TV says blank disc but the same disc plays perfectly on both computers and the older discs I've burn't still play. If it was a a faulty DVD player then I would get a new one but why do the older discs play but not the newer ones?

Anyway sorry to bore you with these details but I need a compatible lead to connect the laptop to the TV. Now its an 5 year old laptop so it only has a VGA socket and audio out socket. The TV has a RGB IN PC socket, 3 HDMI sockets, S-Video Input socket, Audio In (RGB/DIVI), RS-232C socket, a PCMCIA Card Slot, Video In sockets and a USB. I thought of putting the movie on a USB flash drive but only the new LG TV support this feature.

Now I thought VGA was analogue and HDMI were digital so I would also need an analogue to digital convertor.

Any suggestions?
