Network Cable Unplugged - But LAN works on Linux Mint USB on the same PC!!!!!!

Dear all,

my mum has Asus F5RL series notebook and she uses a LAN router connected to the internet. I borrowed the PC when I needed to connect to the wireless internet during one lecture. When I got back the system reported that "The Network Cable is Unplugged". The led light indicating "PC" connection on the router was blank.

I seemed strange so I booted up Linux Mint LXDE from the USD stick ON THE SAME PC. After it booted the LAN connection worked flawlessly and the led light indicating PC connetcion was nicely green.

Please could you help me with this? I have already tried to disable wireless adapter, to disable IPv6, I ve tried various full/half duplex regimes, wake up on/off, reinstalling drives etc. Nothing worked.

Kind Regards,

Adam
