Access is denied when trying to install network Printer

I am trying to install a network printer (Dell 1350cnw Color Laser) on a Vista computer (HP a1730n) that is part of my WORKGROUP home network. The printer is installed and physically connected to a Windows 7 computer (HP Pavilion 6710) on my network. The method I used for installing the printer was found on the Internet and consisted of going to "printer" on the Control Panel, then clicking on "Add a printer" and then on "Add a local printer". On the resulting screen I selected "Create a new port" and clicked on "Next" without changing anything in drop-down menu. A new window followed with an input field for port name, and in it I typed the name of the computer (to which the printer is physically connected) and the name of the printer, using the following format: \\computer name\printer name. I then clicked on "OK" and expected to see a list of available printers. Instead I received the message "Access is denied". This problem is specific to the Vista machine, as I have used the same method as described above to successfully install the same printer on another computer in my homegroup running Windows XP. I would be very thankful for any idea on how to solve the problem!

If you have the DVD that came with the printer use that
If not go to the website of the Printer and just download the driver from there.

If it is an old printer, you may have to use compatiblity mode and download an XP driver
Disconnect every thing from the computer except, internet, keyboard and monitor and mouse.

I have a printer setup disk and I used it to successfully install the printer on my Win 7 computer a few days ago. While running the setup program it gave me a choise between installing a "personal printer" or a "network printer". I installed it as a personal printer, and the printer works well when printing from the Win 7 computer. It also works on the XP machine, where it was installed using the installation methode described in my initial posting. I have tried to use the setup disk to install the printer on the Vista macine, but without success. My next try will be to delete the current printer installation on the Win 7 machine and change it to a "network printer"

Also all you need is the correct driver. Go to the printer website and download from there if all fails.
