problems with wifi

Ahoy Nerds,

I usually have no problems with connecting to any wireless networks, just with one specific. I have a Toshiba Satellite L350D, using Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. For wifi I am using this driver: Realtek RTL8102/8103 Family PCI-E FE NIC. It's telling me that I can find the network, but it says the access (IPv4- and IPv6-connection) is limited. I can't receive anything from the network.

I am just translating from German, that's why it may not be the same terms as in English, sorry for that.

Can anyone help me? I am not that keen on computers, but hopefully someone can tell me what the problem is. I am happy to give any other details if necessary.

Are you able to connect to that network using any other computers or devices (such as a smartphone)?

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the device? That might help. BTW we aren't all nerds.

There is no problem with the wireless network, it works with other laptops and smartphones. I deinstalled/reinstalled and updated everything I could find. The lates updates for the driver for Windows Vista is from 2009. I am not sure how to deinstall the device...

Do you happen to know what type of wifi it's broadcasting? (eg 802.11n, 802.11g, etc) My bet is that your wireless card doesn't support whatever type of wifi you're broadcasting. Also, does your wifi have a password on it? if so, is it WEP or WPA?

The one network I want to use has a password, yes, the one with password so far, so I already figured it as reason out. It works with WPA2-Personal, or at least my laptop tries it with this. It uses 802.11n for wifi. Do you mean I can't do anything to use wireless internet?

Try getting rid of the password and see if you can connect to it then.

I think this is not possible, cos I use it in a open space, not at home... I have no other access to the internet

Oh so it's not your home wifi. Ok, do your other laptops connect to it with WPA2-Personal as well, or a different way?

I tried all other, its only trying to conect with WPA, with all other its saying, I should try again.

OH! I should have had you do this earlier: restart your pc, and as soon as you see the boot screen press F8 repeatedly until you enter the setup options. From there choose Safe Mode with Networking and see if you can connect then.
