    Blocking Unauthorized Devices

I recently had my router switched out for a Telus modem/router, and the webpage of for the router is complete trash.

All I wanted to do is block an unauthorized device which had somehow accessed my password protected network, so I tried blocking the device's mac address in the filter.
The main page won't display any of the connected devices' mac addresses, nor does it have any tab or link to the filter settings.

I tried contacting Telus, but the support is terrible, and I had been waiting for a representative for over an hour.

Does anyone have any experience with blocking/finding of mac addresses using the Telus router webpage layout? Thanks in advance.

    Hello Madandfrustrate,
Look at the DHCP Client List in the Lan setup tab. Post back if that is helpful or not, i am currently taking classes in Networking and am most eager to assist you .

Thank you for that. I was able to find the mac addresses of the devices by clicking on the diagnostics link to the DHCP settings. I am still unaware of how to filter/block the address though; I can't seem to find the filter settings.

Go to the Firewall tab and look at the Mac address filtering tab please, if you have that on your router .

As I said before, the Telus webpage is very confusing and far too simplistic. I see no option to input any mac address filtering options in the Firewall tab.

Try this , go to manufacture site and see if they have a PDF manual for that router for you to read/download .

As far as I know, the router was made by Telus. I cannot find any manual for it online, or on the Telus website. The technician that assisted in installing it didn't even leave one for me either. When I went to the Firewall tab, all it gave me was

      • Firewall
      • Port Forwarding
      • Applications
      • DMZ Hosting
      • UPnP

There was an additional feature to block services to a device from the Advanced Settings tab, but I doubt it could help much.

I believe it's an Actiontec V1000H. The serial number is CVGA123280406.

*Please note that the PDF file image you may find does not display the same webpage as I see. Mine has a large green bar across the top, and with only tabs Home, Status, Wireless Setup, Firewall and Advanced Setup. There is also a Telus logo in the top right corner.

In meantime , have you used this ? TCPView for Windows
This will at least give you a port number and allow you to detect the attempt and stop it right away . I use this to keep an eye on things. Real neat to use .
