Hello, are you wireless or hardwired to the Internet. ? Hardwired and having these issues ( hardwired being the fastest way to connect ) would seem as if your ISP server may be busy, Does this happen at all times of day or at certain times. ? Post more info please .

Hmm, in your router interface, in the DHCP client list tab, do you see any unauthorized users , i am wondering if someone is using your bandwidth up ?

You have to use address bar, type in 192.168.2.1 to enter the router interface display, look for Tab marked DHCP, this shows who is on the router using the internet, Have you set up security on the router ?

Internet enters your house, connects to modem. router connects to modem. your computer connects to router. That is how you get your internet. You get internet 2 ways off of router, hard wired or wireless. You have to enter router to see the DHCP tab in the router interface. The default IP address of Netgear routers is 192.168.0.1 , i just looked that up , use that to enter your router . Check what you have for users. Should be you, and you said 2 other users ? So, normally you have 3 people on the internet ? and now you notice a slow down, which would indicate, that more people than normal are using the internet, you may not have the router set up properly for security of the wireless signal coming from router.

Try this, Start, all programs, accessories, command prompt, right click that and run as Admin. then in command prompt window. type this < ipconfig /all > without the arrows. This will show you who is on the router and your router address. Look for IPv4 address, that should be your computer.
If you are satisfied that the router is not being used by un-authorized users by stealing your internet, do this : Unplug router and plug your computer directly to modem and see if the speed is still slow. If it is , you need to contact your ISP for them to trouble shoot the internet connection issues. Post back please.
