Qosmio X775-Q7384 - Wireless not working in Vista Ultimate 64

After making Recovery disks for this machine, I completely removed Win7 from the drive (via Manage in Computer Management (right click on My Computer). Prior to that I downloaded all drivers from the Toshiba website. I installed Vista Ultimate plus the downloaded drivers. However there are 3 conflicts in Device Manager.

1. When I boot, there is always an error message saying,
“Incompatible display adapter has been disabled: At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because its driver is not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter”.

There seems to be nothing wrong with the display in actual fact as the screen appears normal. But in Device Manager under ‘Display adapters’, the line saying ‘NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M’ has a yellow conflict next to it.

2. In Device Manager under ‘Network adapters’ there is only one listed; ‘Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller’.

3. In Device Manager under ‘Other Devices’, there are 2 yellow conflicts. One says ‘Network Controller’& the other says ‘Unknown device’. The practical effect is that I cannot connect to any wireless networks & in fact none are listed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ciao,
bob

Okay.. Where did you get the drivers from?

The device driver, is quite possibly because the system has a hybrid gpu setup for power savings, and if you did not use the Toshiba supplied drivers, it won't work right.

Problem is, Vista isn't fully supported it seems, though 7 drivers should work.

The Network controllers easy... Go to the Reaktek site and d/l the vista drivers there, theres only like 3 choices, so i'm sure you can figure that out.

The 3rds abit trickier as you need to find out what it is... Get the first 2 solved might acttually solve the 3rd.

Thanks for your prompt reply. As mentioned in the 2nd sentence of my post, "I downloaded all drivers from the Toshiba website" according to the model number. Even after installing these drivers, the conflicts appeared.

I did not understand your sentence, " The device driver, is quite possibly because the system has a hybrid gpu setup". What specifically are you refering to?

<The Network controllers easy... Go to the Reaktek site and d/l the vista drivers there, theres only like 3 choices, so i'm sure you can figure that out.>

I did that already. It didn't work.

Doh, I should read better....

On the 580 issue. These types of laptops, due to the power hunger of the 580, have he ability to chooswe between the 580 or hd3000 that is onboard the i7.
I'm betting you, you are running on the intel gpu and not the 580.

As the realtek and nvidia hardware hasn't changed in a year, you may be able to search the Toshiba site for a qosimo that has vista support, and try those drivers. Even drivers for a gtx480 should work.
