Will Tablet work with a modem?

I have an older desktop PC with a Windows Vista OS. I'm thinking of purchasing a Tablet but I'm not sure it will work because I use a modem. I was told that Tablets come with a wireless internet card but will the tablet work if I'm not using a wireless connection? What will I need to do or what will I need to purchase to make it work? Sorry, but I'm not up-to-date on the latest technology.

Depends on the definition of "works", But i am assuming you mean connecting to the internet. The answer is no.

All internet connctions at home use a modem, What kind of internet do you have? Cable company, Phone cable always on, or actual dial-up like old school style?

If its high speed, its quite possible your provider has a modem/wireless router you can trade your old one in for free.

If itsa skretchy modem type, I'm not sure what you can do, other than use free hot spots.

I have my Fast Access service with AT&T and I have a Westell Model 6200 modem. I just checked with AT&T and they said I could purchase a wireless router from them for $100. WOW! I just had to purchase the modem I now have from them because there was a problem with my old one and they charged me $75. Could I possibly buy a wireless router that would be a little cheaper, like from Radio Shack? And, if I do buy something like that from Radio Shack will it work with both my PC and Tablet?

Okay, yes you can..... Its actually your smartest option. I suggested your isp soley as in Canada, alot of uys rent our modems.

All you need to purchase is a basic router from where every, no frills routers start at $30, and go upwards of $3000.....

Since your desktop has no wireless, you'd plug it in, nearly as it is now, and youre all set.

Anything on here is fine, obviously do so researching for quality
