Random wireless fail

I have vista 64 on my gateway p-7805u laptop. A few months after I got the computer this random problem started. I'd say 1 in every 20 times you turn on the computer when it loads up and connects to my router I would have no internet access. Now I can ping the router, but I can't access the routers GUI page. And if you reboot the computer it will act like normal again. But today I rebooted it 4 times before I was able to get internet. Now I've gone through all my network settings, both when having this issue and when not, and none of the setting are any different. When I try to do a diagnose it just says there is no problem and that I have local and internet. And this problem is def the computer and not the router because I've changed routers and the computer still has the same problem with the new one.

I don't have an answer for you but I'm wondering if some kind of Microsoft update caused this.

My router is physically connected to my Vista Desktop and my mobile work station, which has Win 7, connects to this machine wirelessly. For the past couple of days, whenever I wake up the Win 7 machine, IE won't open a page and the little WI-FI icon in the system tray shows no connection. I click on the icon and then click on the wireless connection and everything is fine. Didn't do that until this week. The Wi-Fi is set to automatically connect.

Is this laptop still under warranty?

I was going to suggest pulling the Gigabyte adapter and reseating it but, I don't know if that's very easy considering it's a laptop.

You might try reinstalling or updating the driver for the Gigabyte adapter and, also, the Intel Wi-Fi controller on your mobo.

no it is not under warranty any more. I actually have tried reseating the card recently and it didnt have any effect on it. It still happens randomly. I'm gunna see what drivers they have available.

Since it's a laptop, you should check the vendors support website for the drivers. Make sure you check both drivers I mentioned.
