    IGMP

    Hi
My firewall (AVG) is blocking an incoming IGMP request from Remote IP 192.168.1.1 (router) to local IP 224.0.0.1
This is occurring about every two minutes.
The ActionTec M1424WR router has the IGMP Proxy set to Enable.
It seem futile to send the requests and then have the firewall block them.
Would I do any harm if I set it to Disable?
    Thanks
    Frank C

Hello Frank and welcome to the forums

    Try whitelisting the IP:

    Thanks Tom,
I am confident that I can follow your instructions to white list the IP address in AVG, however the IGMP requests would continue to be generated.
My router is used on my local network to support a desk top, a shared printer, an external shared 1 TB My Book disk and a wireless connected laptop. It is, of course, also used to connect to the internet by the desktop and the laptop. I don't see the need to join any groups.
In view of this, would you advise against setting the IGMP requests to disable in the router?
    Thanks
    Frank C

    Hi Frank,

From what I understand, you don't seem to have a need for IGMP, so it sounds like you're fine to disable it

After disabling it, check that all of your devices are still connected to the network, and functioning.

    Thanks for the help Tom982
I finally got around to setting the IGMP proxy in the router to disable. The many AVG firewall blocks shown in the log ceased.
I have not encountered any show stoppers with the desktop, the laptop, the printer or the external My Book disk drive.
    All seems to be copasetic
