    Internet Connection? router vs desktop?

Okay, so I bought a Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter. I installed it onto my Acer Aspire M5100 Desktop Computer. The adapter was able to connect to the router just fine. But for some reason, it WILL NOT connect to the web. I tried installing the same device on my laptop and it worked perfectly fine. Maybe its because my desktop is a vista 2007? what do I do at that point? :/ I've disabled firewalls, checked Command Prompt. It shows that I am sending information to it, but I never receive any back. Also, I checked to ensure that the router isn't filtering either. I've tried reinstalling, restarting computer, unplugging/turn off power to all the devices, even talked to a representative on the phone for 2 hours. Always get one of these two: Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server; Ip Configuration issue. I was on the phone with a customer service gentleman, and we were on the phone for 2 hours just trying to get the thing to work. I am now trying to get the computer to work with ethernet cord plugged into the back of it and it still has the issue of not connecting to the internet, but it connects to the router. What am I doing wrong?

I'm totally confused. Which computer is your router connected to? Are you able to access the internet through that computer without the adapter?

Are you using Vista, service package 2? If not, you should update.

    Try this.
    1. Plug your internet cable.
    2. Check your windows update
    3. Go to the optional
    4. Look for your wireless upgrade.

Let's say i have wifiV1 currently there should be an upgrade wifiV2 in the optional and then update it after that restart if you are done tell me.
