Vista wireless sudden no internet access

Apologies if this looks like an old issue, but I have tried everything on the forums and it's getting me nowhere.

My desktop is connected to a BT Broadband 3 (BT Infinity, = v.fast fibre/copper) router via a wireless connection. It's pretty stable although I do get the odd random "local only" error, which to date a pop-up BT "wizard" has fixed (I have no idea what the problem was, or what it did).

Between last night, when it was working fine, and this morning, something has happened to make the "local only" access permanent, which means try as a might I cannot get internet access. I have a laptop (which I'm writing this on) and it connects wirelessly to the router fine.

The only recent change is that I installed a memory upgrade 3-4 days ago which meant I had to reset the BIOS - but the wireless connection carried on working for 3-4 days until last night. I did get an automatic CHKDSK for the first time yesterday (I was being impatient and hard powered down whilst Windows was booting).

I have tried all the usual steps that can be found on the forums for this annoying problem, including removing and re-installing the wireless adaptor. I may try subscribing to NoIP for a dynamic DNS, but that doesn't seem to be the root cause.

I am posting IPCONFIG /ALL below. Any suggestions would be most gratefully received.

    Welcome to the forums.

Have you checked device manager to see if theres any errors? If not, try un-installing the driver and installing it again.

Please excuse my ignorance. What does it mean when the lease was obtained yesterday and expires today?

    Try this.

    1. Check your windows update
    2. Go to the optional
    3. Look for your wireless upgrade.

Let's say i have wifiV1 currently there should be an upgrade wifiV2 in the optional and then update it after that restart if you are done tell me.

Skippy, what anti-virus software are you using? Do you use McAfee by chance?

Re: Vista wireless sudden no internet access

@thetroubleshoot. I have recently experienced the same type of issue. I use webroot spysweeper as my malware/antivirus. I have reset my router and check other computers which all seem to be working fine. I have noticed with my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A215) the orange light associated with the wireless radio on/off switch does not light up. When I do a diagnostic on the network adapter I am told that it is on but I can not see or pick up any networks.

I have disabled and reenabled the wireless network adapter, rebootted the computer both in normal and safe w/ networking modes to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like faulty drivers... Do this: Right click on "Computer", go to "Manage", go to "Device Manager" on the left pane. Are there any icons with yellow or red caution signs?
