By default LAN or WLAN card has dynamic ip address after windows is installed, however i have set up a static ip address to my NIC card and can't log in to windows xp after 30 days grace so i need to reset NIC card to dynamic to activate windows xp.

When you get the activation wizard does it not have the option of calling Microsoft to obtain the activation code?

Hi,

I think they are trying to activate windows XP after the 30 trial period with the static IP & cannot log-in?

Change the router address to match one for the PC connect by cable & go from there!

Yes it has the option as you mentioned, however i want to know how to reset a NIC card setting to dynamic without log in to windows first.

Hi there do you think it will work after changing the router default IP to something like 192.168.5.6. By default my ISP router IP address is 192.168.1.1

Hi,

If you could describe your network set-up in more detail I could answer that.

So, if you are refering to an in-trim router & have set the gateway/ DNS to 192.168.1.1 on the 192.168.5.6 one, then it should, but more detail would help!
