Vista ; ubee wireless modem/router. Unidentified network

I recently moved and we had our modem/router upgraded to a Ubee . When the tech was here I didn't think to have my laptop on so he could also hook that up. I have never had an issue connecting to WiFi . When I connect to our WiFi it shows connected but then shows "unidentified network" and i cant access the internet.

We talked to several techs over the phone, did troubleshooting, cant figure it out. They say its my laptop. I know it isn't. I have tried to search on the internet and tried anything I can find , but nothing is working.

Has anyone had this issue or know how to resolve it? Please help if so! Thank you!

Is the work group on your laptop set the same as that of your pc or whatever the modem is connected to?

Networks aren't my bag either. I'm just a user like you and have just a little experience with this.

On the computer with the router, go to Control Panel, Network and Sharing. Make sure that the diagram shows the computer connected to a network and the internet. Also make sure network discovery is on. Does the name of the computer in the diagram match the name of that computer?

Do you have this problem when the laptop is in the same room as the router?

On my workstation laptop, there's a switch on the side for connecting to a wireless network. If you have such a switch, you might switch it off and then back on.

One other thing to try is to pull the power plug on the Ubee and let it set for a minute or two. Plug it back in. Does that help?
