I'm trying to fix a friend's computer and not near it all the time, so bear with me on missing infos, I will get whatever info I need though. OK - symptoms: Connect to a network lights up but has no action, no error message or anything. Other buttons also do this, I will post again to list them all if needed. Here's what I've done so far - when I first worked on the computer it was locked out of the primary account with "User Profile failed the logon" and could not connect to wifi on the guest account. I went into the guest account regedit and took .bak off of one of the folders and put it on the duplicate named folder, and changed the state from 8000 to 0. The Admin account is now opened and connects to remembered wifi routers automatically, but still can't click on connect to network + others. I ran sfc/scannow and it showed no problems with integrity, and replaced VAN.dll in case it was corrupt, still no luck. I know it is a Compaq; will find out specific model later. Also anything else you need to know. The guest account does not connect to wifi at all but this may be because there were no remembered passwords in it.
