Dial up disconnects if web page has too many advertisements or pictures

Hi all,

For about two years now I've been having problems with getting disconnected if a web page has too many pics or advertisments. I just lived with it and didn't visit those pages again.

The latest problem is with the Kijiji web site. I had no problem with it until 3 weeks ago. It's important to me because I use it to look for employment etc.. When the main page is loading (only for about 20 secs) I get disconnected off the internet. I am on dial up with a 28800 connection. I can load the web site and NOT get disconnected if I turn off 'pictures' in my browser settings. This is no good if I want to attach my resume or send a message to the poster. You can't without images turned on.

So far I've done all updates including Java and Flash.
All computer settings are correct
Lowering Modem speed
Plugging in directly to phone jack where it comes into the home
Testing the connection in different locations in the home
Talking to internet provider. (they said everything ok on their end)
Emailing back and forth to Kijiji (useless)
Can't find any drivers for my modem (Agere HDA)
Did the restore point
Logging the modem

I've always had the feeling it's got to do with the advertisements/pictures somehow...because that's when I get disconnected the minute they start to load. Remember it's not on every web site only a few ...and Kijiji is almost right away. Kijiji worked fine 3 weeks ago.

Thanks for any suggestions or info

Welcome
I would try, another browser, Firefox and Chrome are good choices.
If that does not work, test your memory with memtest
RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Help Forums
If you are still having problem
Try a clean boot to see if that resolves your situation
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup - Windows 7 Help Forums
Did you go to device manager and look for any small yellow markings to indicate problems with drivers?
Make sure you have all updates for Vista and your Browser
Finally, does you computer even have enough ram for these new resource hog, websites?
Maybe graphic card, old or lack of strength. If it is old that may be the case.
I do agree it is the adverstiments, but it is not their fault, the problem is at your end.
