Shared HDD not visible

Hey guys,

I'm currently running an Ubuntuserver where an external HDD is mounted in the network.
I can see the HDD fine on my Windows 7 computer but not on my fathers laptop running Vista.
Is there anything I need to change in the settings on the laptop in order to see the HDD?
The Vista laptop is in the same network (IP-Range and WORKGROUP) as the Win7 computer

What are the share permissions set up as? Workgroup share permissions are setup locally and therefore each machine will be independent in terms of authentication. This would most likely explain why Windows 7 works and Vista doesn't.

As a test, try making the share public by allowing everyone full control. This will help determine if this is an authentication issue.

Check Vista Windows Firewall settings.

Look at Allow a program through the firewall and make sure File and Printer sharing is checked.
