Looking for a good wireless adapter

Hi,

I have a WG111v2 which I bought just to be able to use Vista x64. It doesn't work well with games though, so I need an adapter with no dropouts and x64 support. Would be nice with some recommendations.

Howdy! I am also on the lookout for a good wireless adaptor. Was going to get the WG111T as I have a WG111 now and have been very happy with it.
When you say the WG111V2 is not good for gaming, does it work under normal circumstances or only under high traffic conditions like gaming?

As far as I know there are no x64 drivers yet :-(

Thanks

Hi,

I have found out that the D Link DWL-G122 is Vista x64 certified! They have the x64 drivers and installation guide on their website.

I have ordered one and should receive it tomorrow so will post the results.:) :)

Just reporting back that the Dlink installed and setup without one single glitch - just as easy as anything in XP.... :-) V happy :-)

Did you use that netgear adapter on windows vista 64bit and if u did where did you get the drivers. The reason i am askin is because i have the same adapter and i cant get it to work under 64bit vista, i also have a linksys wusb54gc wireless usb stick that i cant get workin either and its a huge problem atm for me because i dont have any other kind of network on this comp atm so i am forced to use the laptop.

Hi!
Concerning the linksys wusb64gc try this driver:

64 bit driver for Linksys WUSB54G - works with Vista RC1 - Wireless Adapters - Linksys Community Forums

I've done it for my wusb54gc and it works fine.

I have a Dlink DWL-G122 rev b wireless USB card and installed the DWL-G122_64bitVista_Driver_3.0.1. The drivers installed ok and my wireless connection was up and running. I surfed the net for most of the morning and then rebooted the computer and that's when the problems started. The wireless icon showed up in the taskbar, but there was no connection. When I clicked to connect to a network, it's no longer showing my SSID or any others. I checked in the device manger and the wireless USB device was still listed and driver installed, there's just no SSID to connect to, even when I hit refresh. I've messed about for most of the day installing different drivers, without any success and I'm finally beat. I also disabled driver signature which made no difference. Anyone got any ideas what the problem might be?

There's nothing wrong with the wireless adapter as it works perfectly under windows XP and the vista x64 driver installs ok everytime, but there's just no SSID to connect too.

If you're really going to do online gaming, then you need to connect your computer directly to your network with a cable. Wireless will never be as fast or lag free as a direct connection to the router.

When I first tried to get a VistaX64 G adapter for myself earlier this year, I had a pretty rough time. Even when the manufacturer stated that they had X64 drivers, they didn't work, especially USB adapters. I finally got a Belkin F5D7000 PCI adapter but even that didn't work until I used the native 64 Atheros driver that comes with VistaX64.

While researching, I found a lot of bad leads and not much about what works. So I decided to let everyone know that I just upgraded to Draft 2 802.11n using a Belkin F5D8053 USB Adapter, and it worked great right out of the box. Although I did get the 64bit driver off the site rather than using the CD.

So, for whoever is looking, I have found at least one that works! How well, time will tell, I haven't had a chance to test it much yet as far as range, signal strength, etc.

I have a Wal-Mart $48.00Belkin N Wireless Express Card for Laptop, F5D8073.

It is rock solid at 270 to 300 no drops or hangs.
