| Vista Home Premium SP1, 32bit | Help needed: CPU getting extremely hot even on Idle I have recently purchased HP Pavilion tx2500 Entertainment Notebook PC and I am currently running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. The notebook was preloaded with this OS. My configuration is: AMD Turion X2 Dual Core RM-70 3MB RAM ATI Raedon HD 3200 graphics. My problem is that right from the very first day my notebook is getting extremely hot. I checked the CPU temperature with Speedfan. It shows on an avg 75C even when nothing except the kernel is running. More alarming is the CPU usage. Even when nothing is running and the machine is idle, explorer.exe in the task manager shows 40-50% CPU usage. I disabled aero as well as windows search but to no avail. Please advice me if anybody has any idea regarding this. |

| Vista Home Premium SP1, 32bit | Re: Help needed: CPU getting extremely hot even on Idle Disabling Aero wont help. Go HERE and go to the last two replies on that page and do as they suggest to see if it helps. My problem is a bit different from them. Their CPU usage shoots up after opening the windows explorer, however my CPU usage is high right from the start and it never comes down. Best case is around 45% usage. This is unbearable. My idle temps are reaching late 70s. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Help needed: CPU getting extremely hot even on Idle If this is a new notebook, I would only do some checking to see what is actually causing the cpu workload and see if there is something you can disable to calm it down somewhat... Other than that, I would honestly be returning it and getting a new one. |

| Vista Ultimate SP2/Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Help needed: CPU getting extremely hot even on Idle There was a warning published a while back regarding HP notebook batteries overheating. Is yours one of those perhaps? PC Notebook Computer Batteries Recalled Due to Fire and Burn Hazards The other reason could be spyware. Check for infection using the free versions of both of these tools and let them clean everything they find: http://www.superantispyware.com/supe...freevspro.html http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Help needed: CPU getting extremely hot even on Idle OK download ESET and do a full scan and remove any viruses. If the scan came up clean then click the link in my sig and do as it says then reboot your laptop and see if the problem is still there. If the problem still exists then reboot and tap F8 and select Safe Mode and let us know if the problem exists in safe mode. |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit and Kubuntu 9.10 | Re: Help needed: CPU getting extremely hot even on Idle It might be because you have an AMD processer. I have a cousin and we have almost identical specs except he has less ram and he has an amd. He has CQ60 like me and his computer also gets really hot even on idle |
