I know that you are asking how to overclock and not freeze, to that I cannot give you answer. I can present you with the methods to help prevent freezing, one of which is not to overclock. Perhaps one of the other suggestions may be of help
Here are my solutions to freezing, and an excellent article, which I hope is of some help
Go to search type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers
Download and run malwarebytes, a full scan after you update
Run antivirus scan
Check memory with memtest86
Make sure that you are not over heating.
Try in safe mode; report back if it works properly.
Try a clean boot
Make sure PSU is working properly
If overclocking, restore to original
Test hard drive at company website.
Test in safe mode, does it still happen?
Try with clean boot..

don't do any of the above really.
Freezing on an OC means that thed OC isn't stable... Plane and simple.
I haven't used amd overdrive before, but when the system freezes on an overclock, you need to up your Vcore. But as you haven't said anything bout what your settings are, my only useful suggestion is to fully read up on overclocking as youre currently running the risk of frying your cpu because of back overclocking.
I agree, dont over clock is the best suggestion, as I mentioned upfront.
its an AMD, Phenom x6 1090T
all im doing is moving it up by 1mhz and it freazes, it didnt do it before
Okay... What are your temperatures?
I'd redue the hsf. Which did you add, and was the paste pre-applied? or did you add it, and how much did you add?
Are you sure it was only 1mhz? Ive never seen a 1mhz increase as you usually change a base clock or multiplier resulting in either say a 200mhz increase.
Make sure your rams seated well, and all cables are plugged in.
Did you remember to plug in your hsf fan power?
Does it have to do with some new frequency lock on the new processors?
Does the motherboard support overclocking?
Are the devices compatible with the software?
And speaking of software, software overclocks are generally unstable... Just my experience.
it supports, it, and its at 24C. iv done it before, but after i changed my heatsink and reinstalled my OS it started freezing
Did you knock something about?
Did you TIM Right?
did you get tim in the socket?
Lots of things to check.
