Vista and Canon Camera Raw Files- Danger?

I recently read in a magazine article that Vista, unless a codec is installed, may delete raw data. The article says that as long as you update the photo studio you shouldn't have any problems. Well, as far as I know, Canon has yet to offer a codec that works with 64bit Vista and that makes me very concerned about my raw files. Anyone know anything about this?
