media center and tv tuner troubles

hello first post for me on these forums and i had a few questions.

first off I recieved a copy of Vista Business from my school for free because I am a Computer Science Major the only problem with this being that I dont get media center out of the box what i was wondering was if it's possible for me to get media center without upgrading to ultimate.

the second thing is this... i just bought a pc tv tuner card for purposes of uploading video from vhs to my computer well i didnt need quality and i wanted to save some money so i purchased a Sabrent SAA7130 card off of newegg. Well once i got it i decided to put the tuner to use.

at first i could only get video and no sound and with tons of tinkering i am now able to get sound but now for video i can only get a gray screen. I have downloaded the latest drivers for my device from their website and ive gone through so many troubleshooting stuff that i thought might work but to no avail. has anyone here had a similiar experience and know how to fix this.

my computer specs are as follows:

Windows Vista Business 32bit
Total amount of system memory 3.00 GB RAM
Total size of hard disk 466 GB
Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS
Total available graphics memory 1535 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 256 MB
Display adapter driver version 7.15.11.6369
Primary monitor resolution 1280x1024
DirectX version DirectX 10
any help would be appreciated
