Vista Home Premium and iPod Mini 4 GB

I downloaded and installed iTunes 7.5 and hooked my four-year-old iPod Mini 4 GB up via the USB 2.0 cord. Vista said it failed to install any drivers for it and iTunes never acknowledged it. Is the Mini too old to work with Vista and the new iTunes?

Hi OmegaWolf747,

Sounds like the user account that is logged on when trying to install the Ipod is a standard account rather than an administrator account.

What do the iPod diagnostics say? (iTunes Help menu -> Run Diagnostics. Select iPod Diagnostics, select Next, copy / paste the text into a reply here)

Thanks
Raj

I am having the exact same problem, but I'm using iTunes version 7.6.0.29. Since the original poster didn't follow up with this (and this seems like the post most relavent to my problem), I'll go ahead and post my diagnostics here. I know causing old threads to resurface is forum taboo, but since this is my exact problem, and it was never resolved, hopefully no-one will mind. :p (oh, and this is my first post on here.)

For some reason, in the diagnostics it says I am not an administrator, but this is the only account on here. I thought thought this account would automatically be an administrator because of that, so either iTunes or I are mistaken. Thanks in advance. :)

My Computer

To follow up, I've been trying to update the drivers, and continue pointing it to look into C:\Windows, and even though the wizard says it has found the drivers, it continues to give an 'Access is denied' error. Again, really strange, considering there's only my one account for this computer.

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

USB Mass Storage Device

Access is denied.
