money 2001 stopped working on vista

Recently bought a computer with Vista Home Prem. Installed money 2001 and it ran great for 3 months, no problems. then suddenly one day it just stops working completely. i can't open any of the files. I get a brief "thinking" pointer and then nothing. I can't find any help on the internet or at microsoft. i've reinstalled, tryied compatibility mode, run as administrator, every suggestion i can find. nothing.

Hi Muldenator,
Your PC should have come with a Microsoft Money cd. If so you can reinstall the program and if prompted choose "repair".

I have had a similar experience with Money 2001 on Vista. For 3 months everything worked fine and then today there was just no response. No error messages or clues as to why. I tried repairing from the original CD, re installing, uninstalling and re installing - all to no avail. Finally after trawling several forums I came across the suggestion to do a system restore. Thankfully this worked and Vista actually added a new folder after giving a message that it was preparing Money.
The new folder appeared under C:\Program Files (x86) called Microsoft Money (16) and contained the same 9 folders as Microsoft Money with 170 files. Many of these appeared to be the same as the 263 files in Microsoft Money.
So if anyone has had Money 2001 working and then stopping for no good reason it is worth trying a system restore.
