Hi

Does anyone know why I can't print in landscape format using Excel 2007 and Vista x64. It's driving me crazy. I can change the settings in page layout and printer dialogue boxes but the print preview never changes from portrait and it won't print as landscape. Help?

I have the exact same problem and this really annoys me. I have been googling for couple hours and found many questions but no answers. Someone please help! Obviously this is a malfunction in the product and why wouldnt MS do somehting about this?

Hi

I have finally found a solution. You need to make sure that you are using the PS printer version of your printer in the 'printer name' box in the print dialogue box. If you use this rather than your printer without this suffix you can get excel to print landscape.

Hope this helps

cheers

Hi

"PostScript is a programming or page description language. It is a way of describing what a page should look like. A PostScript printer is one that understands the PostScript language and can print PostScript files, including EPS graphics - Encapsulated PostScript. While PostScript and EPS files are commonly used in desktop publishing, not everyone needs to print PostScript files or EPS graphics." So says someone smarter than me.

I resolved the problem by:
Have Excel open and a file ready to print.
select 'Print' to print your file
At the top of the 'Print' box is a field saying 'Name' and it gives the name of your printer. Scroll down this and see if you have your printer name with the letters PS after it. If so choose it then click 'ok' at the bottom. This should sort out the problem and allow you to print landscape again.

If you don't have the PS printer driver I think you need to upgrade your driver, add a new printer via 'Printer' in Control Panel and then select it again in the Print box

Hope this is ok.

The resolution to my particular problem was that I had colored cells on my worksheet, and my laser printer only does black and white. I got my worksheet to print fine on my hp color printer, same thing on my samsung laser, portrait every time, until I changed all the cells with color to black or white or gray shade.
