Hi all, if any body can help me, my computer with Vista Home Premium 32 will not install downloaded software. After download a window just pops up and says ' windows has identified a porblem with this software' saying it is not digitally signed.
The main program i am trying to down load is AVG
(but it does it with other programs too) , i know the software is good because i used to have it on my laptop.
If have installed the certificate but still no joy.
Can anybody help me please,

I'm also having problems downloading programs off of the Internet and installing them on VISTA Ultimate 32-bit and VISTA Ultimate 64-bit. I've tried running the programs as an Administrator, and everything else that I can think of.
I even swapped out the Motherboard. In the end, I gave up, and called Microsoft Support. I had to pay $60. This was a week and a half ago. It seems that some systems will not allow programs to be installed if they are downloaded from the Internet. They have no known fix, and "are working on it". I just can't wait until this hits the news. An OS that doesn't allow you to install programs off of the Internet.
I believe it has something to do with either the authentication by VISTA, or VISTA corrupts the downloaded program. If you d/l the program on another laptop, put it on a USB drive (or a CD/DVD), it will install from there.

HI. Im using AVG on my other system which is Ultimate 32 bit and dont have the digital signature problem. Can you be more specific as to which programs will not install on your system to try and weed out the problems a little more. Thanks.
Also if you have UAC running disable it like this:
Open Control Panel.
Under User Account and Family settings click on the "Add or remove user account".
Click on one of the user accounts, for example you can use the Guest account.
Under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link.
Under "Make changes to your user account" click on the "Change security settings" link.
In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click on the Ok button.
You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Do so when ready.
In order to re-enable UAC just select the above checkbox and reboot.
If it comes up with an icon in the bottom left about Blocked programs, mouse over it and Allow.

If I download these programs from IE or Firefox, and I try to install, I get an error saying that the program has crashed. The error is APPCRASH.EXE and the module is always the program.
However, if I use another computer, and d/l the exact same programs to a USB drive, it will work if I install from there.

Sorry, I should have said that I've already turned off UAC, and my account is an Administrator account. Just to make sure, I also right-click the icon, and "Run as Administrator".
It doesn't work!
Lee: What's your system configuration? Maybe, we can see if we have something in common, and it could be that component.

I had this issue a while back. It was actually my ISP (or was it my router? I forget haha).
I replaced the router and yelled at my ISP. Problem gone.
