Cleanup Tools

Hello Vistax64, I have been in need of some cleanup tools. Such as registry, hard drive, and well stuff like that. Anything free and safe that can help cleanup my laptop.

Re: Cleanup Tools

Hi Intist

Yes CCleaner I find effective for keeping my hard drives clean of any temp/junk files etc. and I've been using CleanMyPC Registry Cleaner by CleanMyPC Software and find it's one of the best I've used and works beautifully on Vista x64.

PS: I even prefer CleanMyPC better than the built-in registry cleaner in TuneUp Utilities 2008 by TuneUp Software (sorry Mathews 2010!!!) and I've been using TuneUp Utilities for years.

Kind regards

Neil

Re: Cleanup Tools

This is an excellant site for freeware/shareware. Here are their recommended utilities:

MajorGeeks.com - Download Freeware and Shareware Computer Utilities.

Ccleaner (formerly Crap Cleaner) and Majorgeeks.com. 2 of my favorite friends.

Re: Cleanup Tools

Ashampoo WinOptimizer 4 is excellent as well. Plus it includes a much better defrag program than one included with Vista. Might be better to find a bit torrent version of it versus the free one that I think is a trial.

Re: Cleanup Tools

The reason I recommend Registry Free Cleaner because all you need is running it one time; but for ccleaner, you can run it ten time in a roll, you still come up with junks.

Just for my own learning:

1. What is it about the behavior of your system that leads you to
think you need more cleanup tools?
2. Why do you think the native cleanup tools provided with Vista are not adequate for the job?

Thanks.

Re: Cleanup Tools

Just one thing on registry cleaners, be careful not to let it make changes auto matically. Some registry cleaners delete keys they dont think are in use when they are.
