(This is in another post but I couldn't edit it so I am reposting with another subj line.)

I use the weather channel desktop alert thing. How can I make it so Windows always allows the program to work, and I don't get one of those WINDOWS NEEDS YOUR PERMISSION FOR THIS PROGRAM TO ACCESS YOUR PC alerts. I click 'allow, i trust this' but I keep getting it.

To the best of my knowledge, the UAC (User Account Control) can not be selectively changed to allow some programs to run and not others. It's a built in security feature of Vista. While not recommended, the UAC can be disabled. I would recommend leaving it on, but if you want to try running your system with it disabled, you can find the instructions here: User Account Control (UAC)

Let us know how this works out for you.

thanks, that takes care of it. I'll just leave it be. Or replace it with another program like 'Weather Watcher' I guess.

Are you trying to start this program automatically when Windows starts? This may help:

How do I run an administrative program (that needs my permission to start) every time I log in and prevent the "Windows has blocked some startup programs" message?

Or right-clicking on the program, Properties, Compatibility, and ticking the box to "Run as Admin" may work.
