COM Surrogate Error + Photoshop CS3

I'm using Vista Ultimate 64.

Basically anytime I want to open or create any file of any type in Photoshop CS3 I get a COM Surrogate Error (2, one followed after the other). I hit cancel on both and then the file opens with no problems obviously, however it's extremely annoying when say opening 10 images I need to work on (gotta close 20 error boxes then).

I do have service pack 1 installed, however the problem existed prior to that. I have searched and everyone seems to say they are related to video codecs like Xvid or ffdshow or Nero, neither of which I use or have ever installed.

Even stranger is that this problem never used to happen and then it just started happening out of no where. There was no hardware change or software installed to make this happen. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

(sorry but my english is very poor:o)

But why happens this error only with photoshop?¿? It's strange that explorer and ahyone program with videos or photos don't crash cum surrogate...

I'll try unistall all codecs and install this ones....

Thanks...;)

Edit: Nooo...I try your codecs and don't work... I unistall nero too.... :(

I think it's a problem with photoshop, any plug-ing or I don't know... only crash when open an image or a new document... then works fine

i have problems in both xp and vista x64 with photoshop cs3, apparently it isnt fully compatible with x64, the best it will be that adobe make a patch or the cs4 version fully compatible with x64, in my case it crashes without any reason, thats it.

Adobe has already committed to making CS4 x64 compliant with Windows and Linux.

Thanks to a DEP problem i am trying to solve here, maybe this trick could help :)
Control panel / System / Advanced System.... Then click on Parameters in front of Performances and go to the DEP tab.
Choose Activate DEP except for.... and add: "C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exe"
You will be warned and Com surrogate will be displayed and ticked.
Apply, reboot and the problem should be solved (i did not test as i never had this error, so i am guessing)

My Computer

I can't activate DEP except for dllhost.exe because is a 64 bits program... only lets except with 32 bits exe... :'(
