Can I protect the files in Vista using password?
I know Windows does not support this feature,,
but, curious to know if some kind of tricks or third party application on which I can relay.....

Re: Password Protecting files

This has been covered on this forum many times already. Using the built-in utilities to clean the hard disk is a good first start in freeing up disk space. Uninstalling infrequently used programs and deleting unneeded files is another excellent way to clean up disks.

Nishanth,

If you have some files you'd like to protect, you can create an archive, put the files in there and assign a password to the archive. For this purpose, there is a Vista friendly program called 7-zip. It can create archives, password protected and encrypted as well. You can download a copy here: Download

I hope this helps.
