Vista - Mail & Mozilla Problems

hello, not sure if this problem has been posted before. I have a problem with Windows Mail linking to Mozilla. When I click a link in Mail it doesn't always open a new tab in Mozilla. This has been happening quite a lot recently. I'm on Vista Premium 32bit.

can anyone point me in the right direction?...

When you say Mozilla, do you mean an older Mozilla suite program, SeaMonkey, of Firefox?

actually, It's not just Windows Mail that I'm having this problem with. When I try to open a program from the Start menu sometimes it doesn't open.

Any ideas?

OK, two separate issues here - the first one - I still need to know the program you're dealing with.

The second one - is this with *any* program, any program but randomly, or with only particular programs?

ok, I mean Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.14, the latest version. It's no particular program. I've tried a few in my start menu but none of them will open.

I have a similar problem also on Vista Premium 32bit when I use either Windows Mail or Live Mail and click on a hyperlink I get a box entitled "Outlook Express Folder Sync Windows Class:WinMail.exe bad image" Then the following error message, C:\windows\system32\hlink.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program using the original installation media or contact your system adm......
I have disabled Norton, reset Windows mail to restore original settings and the same message happens. Drying me nuts as I can't reach a hyperlink in IE except through copying and pasting. Any suggestions?

one more thing that I've noticed. I click "Start" and go to the Restart, hibernate, sleep button on the bottom right but sometimes this menu doesn't appear also. I click the arrow and no menu appears.

now it's working again, clicking on links in Windows Mail open a new tab in Firefox no problem. anyone know what's causing this?

Not without more information. When it stops working, you'll probably want to check your Event Viewer logs to see what errors messages (if any) are there. Also, what anti-Malware programs are you running, and are they updated/ Is your Windows Vista completely updated? Have you tried re-installing Firefox (sometimes it forgets if it is the default browser, especially if you have installed a different version, such as version 3, to test, and then uninstalled it)....
