Hello, My Vista Ultimate box will not recognize the Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender. I do see the Xbox 360 in my network devices, but i do not see the install option. Additionally, it will not find the Xbox through the Extnder wizard in Media Center. I have network discovery, file sharing and media sharing enabled.

However, i am able to UPNP share via Windows Media Player. Please help.

Yes, i have been able to connect with Media Center 2005 flawlessly. In fact after fiddling around for a long time, Vista is able to see the Xbox 360 as a media center. However, i am experiencing alot of issues while navigating menus. My extender will freeze for a long period of time before performing any action. I have been searching for a solution for a few days, and have noticed that alot of users are experiencing the same issue.

Regretfully, there is no common solution or a solution that has resolved this issue. At this time, I have updated my router firmware and Video card drivers, i have also disabled IPv6. None of these made any difference.

I do not have performance issues in UPnP sharing.

Yes I also experience lag when using media center on the XBOX 360. Usually when I want to stream music, i do it through the dashboard, on the media tab. All you have to do is configure your PC to share music with the 360.
This can be done by doing the following, just make sure the 360 is powered on, and connected to the same network as the pc with the media:

-Start, and then click network
- Then click Network and Sharing Center at the top
- Then go down to media sharing, expand it, and click change
- Then you can check the Share My Media To box
- If everything is configured correctly, you should see an icon that says XBOX 360
- Click on the icon and click Allow , and you need to confirm this with the UAC

Save all of the changes.

Then on the xbox:
Using your Xbox 360 controller, select the media blade.
  1. Select music.
  2. Select Computer.
  3. On the Windows-based PC screen, select Yes, Continue.
After a few moments, your computer with the shared media name should appear.
  4. Under Select your computer, select your computer and the shared media name.
  5. Find the music that you want to play, and then select Play.
Hope this helps
