Pardon the loud crash, but my jaw just thudded to the floor. Windows Live Mail does not recognize the extension on .DOC. What!? Wait while I roll on the floor laughing. Or should I be crying. I think crying. Wow. Where in the heck is quality control in these products. Ok. Sorry....
Here's the thing... I was sent a .DOC attachment. When I tried to open it I received an error message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in Set Associations Control Panel". So, I think whatever... I go to find the Control Panel, Set Associations...and surprise! ...(they were just kidding) there is no such thing. Turns out it is Control panel, Set Defaults. Sheesh....why not just say that!
Ok, so I look in Set Defaults and my 'mystery' file extension .DOC that is confounding WLM does have an association. It, of course, is Word. DER!! So what the heck? ..and does anyone know what to do to let WLM know that a .DOC file is to be opened with Word?
Thanks!!
Elysa
PS - what is up with the dorky smilies in Vista? ...and for heaven sake what is that in the mouth of the bottom smiley?
