Vista - Adobe releases security updates for Reader, Acrobat

"Adobe released a security update for a serious vulnerability within Reader and Acrobat. The vulnerability described in CVE-2008-2641 is being circulated on the Internet. Adobe says if exploited the vulnerability could crash applications and could allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.

The update affects Adobe Reader 8.0 through 8.1.2, Adobe Reader 7.0.9 and earlier, Adobe Acrobat Professional, 3D and Standard 8.0 through 8.1.2, Adobe Acrobat Professional, 3D and Standard 7.0.9 and earlier. It does not affect Adobe Reader 7.1.0 and Acrobat 7.1.0."

I have Adobe Reader 8.1.2 and there's no updates for this version?

I just checked and because I had the default Reader install from my brand new install this week I am still on 8.1, and had to update to version 8.1.2, 40MB

yeah,the "check for update" didn't show any update need...

but I updated it anyway...

the program folder/security update did show updated date...

also can check the Adobe Reader folders under C:\program files (x86) and several

folders were updated at the time I applied the patch and the following file -

Annots.api in the Plug-in subfolder...If the annots.api file showed a date

of 6/7/2008 then hotfix was installed.
