Outlook Indexing

Hi, I have Windows Vista Ultimate and the Microsoft Business package. My problem is when I do a search in Outlook, it reads no matches. I've gone to maintenance "indexing options" and advanced and did reindexing. The system reindexed completely, but when I started Outlook and tryed a searched, it didn't work. In Outlook, I checked "Indexing Status", it reads "Outlook is currently indexing your files", "searches may be incomplete because items are still be indexed". I don't get it. Maintenance says everything is indexed. You help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Barb

Hi Barb and Welcome to the Forums

The indexing Service used by Vista is for the Search box`s in the start-menu and all explorer windows and you can already find your email from them ;) However the Outlook Search is different and way less effective without entering the proper email tags and does not use the more enhanced and better Vista Indexing feature :(

You can find your e-mail from the start-menu and explorer Windows already since you have added them to the Indexing Service ;) I also suggest you try using Windows Live Mail Desktop... Windows Live Mail Desktop

Thanks Steven for clarifying my misunderstanding and the suggestion to use Windows Live Mail, however at this time, I would like to be able to use Outlook search for finding specific emails. Can you explain why my Outlook search isn't working? How I can fix it?
Thanks,
Barb

Hey

If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time with the search integrated in Outlook, I think I've seen possible solutions in some forums but as there are so many problems with the search in Outlook I can't remember which one could help you fix it. What I know however is that an external search tool is the best solution. Of course there are many, many different tools, I prefer lookeen because it simply works best for me, further information is on the site: Lookeen for Outlook - Mail search made easy!
