Winamp locks up entire system

So I've got a laptop running Vista home premium x64, and 4 out of 5 times i start Winamp, it shows only part of the player, and bit by bit freezes the whole system. Initially only Winamp is frozen, but if I make any attempt to close it or even do anything to it, it freezes up windows and stays that way until I give the laptop a hard reset. When it does work, it works like a charm, no issues at all. My desktop running Vista doesn't have this problem, although I don't know if its OS is as up-to-date as this one is.

I can't imagine this is a hardware issue, but just in case, here's what I'm running:
-Sager NP5793-
Core 2 duo T9300
GeForce 8800m GTX
Realtek HD audio
DDR2-667 4 gigs
