Streams No Longer

Folks
This notebook used to stream with wmp fine just like the other pc's in the house, which by the way still do. The defaults are right and there may have been an ms update that ended it all. When I click on the program a download box appears and if downloaded it will play ok but not stream. Any ideas?

You're trying to "Open" a media file instead of "Download" a media file right? That's what you're referring to as "streaming"?

I know that I've never been able to actually "open" a file a stream it via Firefox. It always downloads the file temporarily. Do you use Firefox?

You could always try inputting the URL to the file you wish to stream manually. It's a little more work, but it should work;

Open Windows Media Player and press "Alt", this brings up the program menus (File, View, Play, etc). Click on File and select Open URL, input the URL to the media file and click OK.

Bub, please detail what exactly you're trying to do (your methodology).

Try to avoid using the words download and stream so we can ascertain what you're doing.

Yep, Freelancer that worked but it is more steps. At Prophecyinthenews.com I could click on a program and watch it instantly but not anymore. Cut and paste works well but I'd like to know why the other computers in the house work normally and this one does not. Thanks for the fix...

Thanks for the response and I hope it's clearer now. Isn't clicking and watching called streaming?

Yes, but there are different sites you can stream from, and different requirements, and different browsers that you can use. Hence my request to have you clarify *exactly* what you're doing.
