Vista - Icon FingerPrint without the image of finger !

Dear all,

I have a Laptop HP, with Windows Vista SP1.
I have a strange issue since yesterday : when I turn on my Laptop, normally I get 2 icons asking me the choice either using Fingerprints or Logon with Password, but, now the icon of Fingerprints is empty i.e. it doesn't show the image of the finger as in the past !!! It simply show me a frame without nothing inside !!!
Can somebody help me to restitute the original icon with the finger inside ?

Hi, Tai278, and welcome to the forums.

Have you gone to the HP website and made sure you're running the latest versions of the drivers? Perhaps after a Windows Update you just need to reinstall the driver for the fingerprint reader....

Sincerely I don't have enough knowledge to select the right driver I need. When I go to the HP Website, for my Product : HP Pavilion dv 6500 Notebook PC, I saw a lot of drivers and I don't know what to do ...
I hope that someone on this forum can help me more in details ? may be somebody has already the same problem than me ?

there should be a driver relating to the fingerprint reader - it will say that, if not in the title, then in the description....

Hi all,

I downloaded from the HP Website the Driver sp37812.exe corresponding to the model of my laptop : HP Pavilion dv6660eb. Then I executed this driver and reboot the laptop. But I still obtain the empty icon of FingerPrint Sensor (= only the frame) , i.e. without the finger's image inside !!!!
Somebody can give me additional advices ? thanks in advance

You have the correct driver/software, I'll list the download page again because you may need it for what I'm going to suggest:
AuthenTec Inc. AES2501 Fingerprint Driver*HP Pavilion dv6660eb Notebook PC

Alright, check your Add/Remove Programs menu for the software to do with your fingerprint reader (my HP Pavilion tx 1000 has "VeriSoft Access Manager"). Uninstall the software (reboot if necessary) and then execute the driver again.

I also use Verisoft Access manager on my laptop dv6660eb Pavilion. Indeed I saw that the driver is AES2501A. You suggested me to uninstall Verisoft Access Manager ? I don't know if it is recommended ? I am afraid that we can not regenerate this software by executing the driver. If it is the case, how can I re-install it ?
Do you have any recommendation about that ?

Well, when I first got this laptop I reformated it to get rid of all the "extra" programs that HP installs. I forget where I found the VeriSoft software again, but I'm pretty sure that it's bundled in the driver.

Actually, Hp abandoned the verisoft software, its now Digital Persona, so if you're downloading the verisoft, its the old, non-sp1 compliant version. I'm using the Digital Persona software (3/2008 version) and SP1 and the fingerprint is there.

Also, the driver and the software are seperate
