Cisco VPN client on x64 Vista Fix?

Has anyone seen or heard of a fix for the VPN client in x64?

We had an end user at our office purchase a Vista Home Premium x64 laptop. Pretty nice machine but it fails when attempting to install the Cisco VPN Client. From what I understand, the only fix is to run a VMWare XP in 32 bit mode and install it there. At least this is what we had to get it up and running.

This was several months ago and I'm hoping that Cisco has released a patch or new release for this.

Has anyone had any luck with this yet?

I too use Cisco WEB SSL from my employer. It will not connect in Vista. So I too am waiting for a patch or something. Right now I'm running my work environment in a virtualbox.

It's a shame to have to resort to x86 just because of VPN....really missing x64...only resort is to run xp in virtual pc...just defeats the purpose.
Really hope someone can assist - Any Connect will not work - concentrator issues.

AnyConnect only works with SSL VPN connections, but ours is an IPSec VPN :(

Lousy Cisco... their latest VPN Client is only just Vista compatible, let alone x64 :p

Thanks for the link. I also noticed Citrix on there. They are even worse off. No time table. What a mess! I'm not going native no time soon. Argh!

Call into Cisco TAC and put in a complaint. I have been pushing on Cisco to fix their products. I want a enhancement forum so users can put in enhancements and have others look at them and comment.

Cisco has a history of poor product development when it comes to new Operating systems. Thier focus is new products, they don't care about keeping current customer satisfied.

I have seen this in a wide spread of Cisco Software products....so bad I'm seeking to replace all that I can. They need to stay current with what the customers need or get out of the software business.

Common problem and unfortunately Cisco isn't going to help us out. Check out Joe Harris's comments (wrote the Cisco Network Security Little Black Book):http://tinyurl.com/5nb7baIPSec 64-bit VPN Client

You may have noticed that the Cisco IPSec VPN Client does not currently support 64-bit Operating Systems nor will it. If you have a need for an IPSec Client that does have 64-bit OS support, NCP Secure Communications has a Universal VPN Client that is 64 Bit compatible and will even import/convert your existing .pcf profiles for a seemless migration to a 64-bit client. More information regarding their products can be found by visiting their products page as well as specific configuration information related to configuring their client with Cisco products is found here: NCP to Cisco Config Guide

NCP engineering is recommended and this what looks like the most recent data sheet (second page is the detail): http://tinyurl.com/6rjqmv
