Best Backup (to DVD or ext. HD) Vista Software???

Hey there,

Since I didn't go with Vista 64-bit Ultimate, I'm just wondering what the best software is out there to backup an image of my PC to DVD or hard disc is?

I would like to have a nice backup of Vista that I can easily use instead of reinstalling Vista every time.


What is the best software out there to do this?

Depends on the disk controller mostly. I've found Macrium Reflect works well. The free version will likely work. If not the paid version supplies a licensed WinPE you can use to embed the Windows driver for your disk controller in the boot CD with the restore program.

Whichever one you try, after creating the boot CD, boot it and make sure you can see your HD from the restore program. If you can then you're likely good to go.

If trying a paid version get one that actually lets you do backups and restores for 30 days instead of just running a demo. You already know how menus work. What you want to know if if you can't boot from the HD, the boot CD will do the job.
