Problem w/eFax

I just got a new hp computer w/vista x64 on it and can't seem to load eFax software on it. Gives an error that "eFax Messenger can not be installed on Windows XP/Vista x64." I called eFax and their tech support was of no help. Anyone else run into this? Any solutions?

Re: Problem w/eFax

Fax1.com is another online fax service that works with XP and Vista 32, but not 64. They're working on making their Faxblaster software Vista 64 compatible.

Incidentally, Fax1 is far cheaper when sending. I have use free J2.com to receive and Fax1.com to send very successfully for a couple years (until moving to Vista 64).

Re: Problem w/eFax

I never really did understand the attraction to efax. I tried it for a while, but in the end I just bought an hp officejet for $40 and had my own fax machine that works as a computer/standalone scanner/copier/fax.

Re: Problem w/eFax

Problem is that is not mobile. If you travel and your laptop is you office from whatever hotel room or beach you are sitting on, you need an online service like j2.com, efax or Fax1.com.

Re: Problem w/eFax

Find and download Efax Messenger 4.3 instead of 4.4. You won't get the printer option, but the rest functions adequately.

Re: Problem w/eFax

You have two options:

1. Efax messenger 4.3 WILL open efx files.
2. Go to efax's website, log in, and change your preferences to download pdf files.

I couldn't download eFax either, but was able to through an alternate method. I downloaded EFAX MESSENGER (which included the full eFax app) through PC World.com: Here's the link: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,6286-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/description.html GOOD LUCK!

Re: Sending Fax from Vista 64-bit

You can also install J2.com fax software with Vista 64-bit to receive fascimilies as well, jConnect - Download j2 Messenger . The problem is that jConnect - Fax and Voicemail by Email and Conference Calling and eFax - Internet Fax to Email Services don't send form vista 64-bit and have much higher send rates when sending from any OS.

Fax1: Free Fax Software for your Internet Fax Solutions. has the best rates for sending by far, Fax1: Internet Fax Solutions . Only problem is it hasn't upgraded its FaxBlaster software for 64-bit operating systems. Hopefully it will soon.

Here is the MS Office page with help docs related to sending Internet fax, http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/he...ternet+fax&av= . It is pretty lame that MS has not provided the send fax interface for Office from Vista 64-bit yet. But then, it's Microsoft we're talking about...
