I got VS 2008 C# Express to install on my Vista machine. But
ActiveX controls I wrote that work on every other IDE,
including VS 2008 C# Express on XP, get errors with the Toolbox.
If you need to program on the Vista machine I'd consider dual booting
XP and do the programming on the XP side. Maybe by the next release
of VS they'll have the Vista kinks worked out. It's probably easier to
set up dual boot than to mess with the hassles if you do get VS 2008
to install on Vista. I removed it from the Vista machine.
It may be one of those things where if you have a Vista PC that it
likes you're ok, but if you have a Vista machine it doesn't like, no
amount of messing around is going to provide a non-distracting IDE
to use.
