| Vista Home Premium 64bit | how do I Change DEFAULT icons? I have vista with ie7 and Maxthon installed. Once Maxthon was installed and set as the default browser all of the shortcuts to web pages that i have (i.e. favorites folder) and a few on my desktop all use the maxthon icon. I am able to manually change them back to the "e" icon by right clicking and changing icon. What i want to do is set it so that every NEW shortcut i create, as well as the old ones automatically use the "e" icon instead of the Maxthon one. thanks |

| Vista Home Premium 64bit | Re: how do I Change DEFAULT icons? Thanks, that seems to be exactly what i need. I still, however, am having problems.. Maybe i am a little slow. Here's what is going on. Steps 1-4 go fine. In step 4 i look for the ".url" listing. This indicates that i need to change the "InternetIcon" setting.. Scroll down to that. go to the "DefaultIcon" folder. as per step 6 Per step 10: Change it to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe,-17" Also tried various other ones in *.dll files (both 10A and 10b methods)..... none of the changes work. close and re log on, and/or reboot. No-joy, still using the same old Maxthon icons. any idea what i am doing wrong? |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: how do I Change DEFAULT icons? You will most likely need to also change the icons for these file extensions as well: .htm, .html, .mht, .mhtml, and .url. Of course the Maxthon program could be resetting the icons back to it's anyway despite any changes you make to. Hope this helps, Shawn |
