Hi all I am hoping someone here can help me. I am unable to use the pc running vista to post here due to the following problems.
My acer 5620z has been running fine for 3mths. i had a trial version of norton which i didn't renew and uninstalled. since then i have had nothing but probs. i am using 3connect (mobile broadband) for internet access as i have been flooded out of my home and connection is sporadic to say least. however after uninstalling norton could not connect to 3. when i plug in usb message says need to uninstall previous version of software, then when i try to uninstall get message setup.exe has stopped working. am unsure how to delete registry entries so would really appreciate some help there if that is what i need to do. the program is still showing in startup and when i try to run i get a really garbled message.
The pc i am using for this message is running XP and I have no problems here.
Please please help.
Thanks in advance
Shona
If you cannot log on to your user account in Vista, then you might try booting into Safe Mode instead. From either one, see if running the Norton Removal Tool to help get rid of any remnants of Norton can help.
Hi Shawn thanks for the welcome. I can log onto my account in vista but cannot get access to the internet as my access program has become corrupt i think. i have tried all the usual stuff like starting in safe mode. i am unable to uninstall the software for the mobile broadband to enable me to reinstall. i keep getting the msg setup.exe has stopped working. and when i try to run i get a really long error message.
I am not sure i am describing this very well but think I may need to delete norton from my registry and am not sure how to go about it.
Thanks again
Shona
This tutorial will show you how to search the registry for anything with the entry Norton (step 6) in it so that you can delete them from the registry.
