Vista - Reinstall Windows sidebar

Hi, I am a noob to the forums and a new Vista user. I am running Vista Home Basic. I ran sfc and it determined I had some corrupt files that could not be repaired. I determined that the files were all related to windows sidebar. My question is, can I reinstall windows sidebar and if so how is this done? I appreciate any help.

Hello Reedb88, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Sorry, but you cannot reinstall Windows Sidebar without reinstalling Vista since it is a part of Vista.

Are you having any problems with Windows Sidebar?

Actually the sidebar seems to be working fine but I found problems with the files associated with the sidebar quite by accident when I ran SFC while trying to resolve an unrelated issue with Vista. So I wanted to see if I could just reinstall the sidebar rather than go through the hassle of copying the files into windows; there are quite few files that are corrupted and could not be repaired, according to SFC.

You can see if doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before these problems can help. If not, then you might be able to fix it with a Repair (Upgrade) install.

Yes, I will try a system restore and, if that does not work I will do a reinstall(repair).
