what is steam? i heard about it having to do something with games, but what does it exactly do?

Its a great way to get instant games and since you you have an online account with steam it means you can play anywhere after downloading steam. Steam has really expanded over the last 2 years and now has the entire iD Software and Rockstar catalogues. I have about 61 games on my account
