Certain incoming email losing HTML formatting

I am using Outlook 2007 on a Vista computer.
Several months ago certain incoming emails stopped coming in with all the HTML formatting...for example...ABC newsletters...and it appears in plain text (I think) and it says at the top "Extra line breaks in this message were removed". Restore line breaks do not fix the problem.

The same email on an XP computer running Outlook 2000 still has all the pictures and interactive design.

Also when I send emails out to a group in HTML with the formatting I want I also send a copy to my self and it comes back as plain text with all the great formatting removed.

I checked the setting and it says I am creating in HTML but somehow sending it out to a group and causes something to change.

What settings do I need to be looking at?

Thank you,
Cindy

Cindy,
Did you ever receive a reply?
I'm having the exact same problem. I'm using Outlook 2007 and Vista Business.

Yours hopefully

Nope...you are the only one.

I hope they answer soon so they don't forget about us! While it is not life threating (like Vista can make many things) it is extremely frustrating. Things used to come in fine but suddenly one day certain newsletter type emails started doing this. Then I noticed my group emails started doing the same thing. (which is even more annoying since I spent detailed time to format my outgoing email just right!!!)

My guess is an update changed some settings but I sure can't find which ones to "fix" to change the settings back.

Interested to know if everyone who has this problem is also receiving mail from a Microsoft Exchange server. I have also had this problem on several different platforms from XP to Vista, from Outlook XP to Outlook 2007. I thought it was Cloudmark Server causing it, but I also have the problem on servers without Cloudmark. However, I have only had the problem with Exchange server.

When I log into to Outlook Web Access the formatting is stripped as well. Leads me to believe that the Outlook desktop application is not the source.

I am a home user and am not on a work exchange server. The same emails I have problems with never used to be a problem then suddenly they started having this issue. It has been going on for several months now so I cannot pinpoint the exact moment in time but it is very aggravating. There has to be a logical reason they are doing it but no one who has any knowledge of Microsoft issues have given us any response. My guess is that even the big wigs don't know what they did to screw things up so they are ignoring the problem. Since the problems appeared after previously working normally, my guess still is that some "wonderful" update screwed something up. I like the PC/MAC commercial where the PC is distributing his LARGE PILE OF MONEY between advertising and fixing things...it is so true...they have so much to fix that they have just given up and are trying to mindwash us with their advertising! I've never considered a MAC in my life but I have been thinking a lot about it now everytime I see a commercial between the two. My next computer just might be a MAC.

Hi guys, Adotheone back.
Sorry it took me so long to reply.
Still haven't founnd a solution (heven't realy had the time). But it seems to be when I receive eamils from corporate networks like government department or other companies. It might be the way their MS-exchange server is set up. I think this is where the formatting is lost. Tailgate might have something.

Cheers
Hope this helps but most likely not. Would love to hear back from you.

My emails aren't from a goverment entity...they are things like ABC or some group type newsletters. It also happens (like described in my first post) to my own emails when I send to a group (I also send to myself) my wonderful HTML formatting gets changed to Plain Text (even coming back to me). This does NOT happen on the XP computer running Outlook 2000. This only happens on the Vista computer running Outlook 2007.

I'm still hanging in there hoping someone can figure it out as it would make life much nicer!

Thanks,
Cindy

I wanted to report back that the mystery had been solved. After many hours on the phone with India and several techs, the last one figured it out and things are fixed. He went into the mail account and uncheck the SPA box. How it got checked I have no idea as it must have been unchecked before the problem started.

Now why didn't someone there figure that out before I spent hours on the phone with them!

Hope this helps someone else.

We had a similar problem and searched for days on how to fix it. Try checking your antivirus filtering options, thats what was causing our problems
