| Premium32 Ultimate32 Pro | Acronis backups burned to DVDs I use Acronis True Image 11 for backing up, all from the bootable CD, I don't have Acronis installed. After creating an image I verify it with Acronis. I also like to burn the image to DVDs and verify them on DVD also. When I burn them to DVDs with Vista, Acronis wont recognize them to verify or restore. If I burn them with Nero Acronis will verify them and can restore them. Any images burned to DVDs would already have been verified while on the HD before burning to DVDs. Any body know what the difference is between burning them with Nero verses Vista in relation to Acronis not recognizing the images burned to DVDs by Vista? |

If you really must use Vista to burn the disks, then do slowly, and mark the options to ensure compatibility across a wide range of platforms. Or, just continue using Nero to burm the CDs. One question though - When creating backups, doesn't Acronis have an option to burn directly to DVD? |

I've just now run an ISO image of the Acronis Boot CD in Microsoft Virtual PC, and it does not appear to have a DVD device for a destination, but I think that's because Virtual PC doesn't support virtual dvd writers in the same way as it does regular DVD rom drives. I wouldn't fret too much about it though, seeing as though you also prefer to have the TIB images on both hard disk and DVD. I personally have an entire 180GB drive dedicated to nnothing but storing customer HDD images, which in truth rarely gets written to DVD anyway. |
